Vegan Nashville Style Burger

PREP TIME: 10 MINS | COOK TIME: 10 MINS | SERVINGS: 4-6

INGREDIENTS:

  • unsweetened almond milk (or your preferred plant based milk)
  • your favourite buffalo sauce (I used Tabasco Buffalo style hot sauce)
  • oyster mushrooms
  • vegan brioche buns
  • sour pickles 
  • plain flour 
  • oil, for frying
  • 4 tablespoons of Umm Baharat's 'All Purpose' blend
  • salt, to taste

METHOD: 

  1. Prep your mushrooms by removing any debris and gently break them apart to your preferred size - the bigger, the better especially when it comes to burgers.
  2. Prep your flour by mixing in the salt and our All purpose blend until well combined.
  3. Dip the oyster mushrooms into the almond milk and then into the flour batter - you can do this once or twice. 
  4. Heat the oil pot over medium heat.
  5. Fry the mushrooms until the batter turns golden brown.
  6. Lightly toast your brioche buns and then assemble the burger by smothering hot sauce on the buns, layering the oyster mushrooms and then pickles and more buffalo sauce.
  7. Serve immediately, and enjoy!

Tip: the fried oyster mushrooms are also perfect as a side dish - they are also VERY addictive.
